No.213: Long Island Weekend Part 3 - One Drawing Each Day #pen #drawing #sketch

This is the first drawing of my third journal sketchbook.

We visited the Old Field, the vineyard.  Their signature wine is "Commodore Perry" named after their ancestor who went to Japan to open up their ports.  So the origin(?) of this winemaker has a close relationship with Japan.

But this wine is quite expensive.  So I bought Rooster Tail, the table wine instead.  But I realized there was a bag for the wine bottle of Commodore Perry.  When I asked if I could get one of those bags, he gave one to me.

We visited two more vineyards.  It was lovely weather and people were enjoying having lunch in the vineyards with bottles of wines.  I didn't know that picnicking was the way to enjoy vineyards.  Some people even hire stretch limos.

The diary of Long Island Weekend started from here.

No.212: Long Island Weekend Part 2 - One Drawing Each Day #pen #drawing #sketch

Lighthouses in Long Island remind me of those in PEI.  Anyway, we went to the tip of the peninsula.

On the way to Clam Bar, we took ferryboat twice.  First to go to Shelters Island and second to come back to Long Island.  It seems ferry is faster than driving.

We enjoyed clam chowder and oysters.

There is a dock by the restaurant and some people came by their own boats.

No.211: Long Island Weekend Part 1 - One Drawing Each Day #pen #drawing #sketch

We visited Long Island on August 10th and 11th.  We started very early in the morning so when we arrived at East Hampton, it was still early enough to enjoy the quietness.

No.210: A Trip to PEI Final - One Drawing EachDay #pen #sketch #drawing

We visited Titanic Grave Site.  So many 101-year-old tomb stones.

After exploring a rather disappointing waterfront area, we went to Bluenose II restaurant to have lobster dinner.  It was great.

I noticed the name "Bluenose II" because we actually entered the store called "Bluenose II".  It was in Lunenberg, so I wondered why there is this restaurant in Halifax.
According to Wikipedia, the ship "Bluenose" first launched in Lunenberg and then the ship was sold to the government of Nova Scotia for the sum of $1 (!).  Interesting story...

This is the store "Bluenose II" in Lunenberg.

So this is the end of my trip to PEI (and Halifax).  One last thing is that we liked the airport hotel at Halifax.  ALT is a boutique hotel and the design is very chic.

No.209: A Trip to PEI Part 6 - One Drawing EachDay #pen #sketch #drawing

The shape of the Citadel resembles a pentagon-shaped fort in Hakodate City in Hokkaido so they are sister cities. The atmosphere of the port is not bad but there are so many modern uninteresting looking buildings which seems to me ruins the air of old port town. The most disappointing part for me is the waterfront development of the port area.

No.208: From My Pinterest Photo - Face - One Drawing Each Day #pen #sketch #drawing

Last weekend, we went to Boston, Maine and New Hampshire.  It was a great journey but today I am a bit tired...  The journey diary will be coming after I finished PEI diary + Long Island diary.
